A RESOLUTION HONORING J. RONNY SMITH, CHANCERY CLERK OF LINCOLN COUNTY, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, J. Ronny Smith has served as Chancery Clerk of Lincoln County, Mississippi, since 1980; and
WHEREAS, he is a member of the Chancery Clerks' Association, the Administrators/Comptrollers Association, the Chamber of Commerce, of which he is a past board member, and the United Way, of which he is a past board member as well as a past president; and
WHEREAS, he is also a member of the Red Cross Advisory Board, the Kiwanis Club, of which he is a past board member, and of Keep Lincoln County Beautiful; and
WHEREAS, he is extremely active in his church, the Macedonia Baptist Church, where he has served as Deacon, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Royal Ambassador Director; and
WHEREAS, he and his wife, Carolyn C. Smith, are the proud parents of son Jereme C. Smith, who is a senior at the University of Southern Mississippi, and of daughter Autumn C. Smith, a freshman at Copiah-Lincoln Community College; and
WHEREAS, J. Ronny Smith has served the citizens of Lincoln County both faithfully and well in his years as their Chancery Clerk; and
WHEREAS, it is his intention to retire at the end of his current term of office:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend J. Ronny Smith for his outstanding service to the public as the Chancery Clerk of Lincoln County since 1980, and congratulate him upon his retirement from that elective office, wishing him and his family all the best and the joys of this new phase of his life.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Smith.
